New Paintings + FANNIVERSARY! Charity Event

Posted on May 25, 2018 in Childhood Revisited | No Comments

Nostalgia is an important theme to my work, and I am pleased to unveil a new series of images, drawing upon the memories associated with my childhood toys. These action figures were integral to my formative years, and I proudly have them on display all these years later.

They are not only a collection, but they are a direct link to my childhood. My history in figure form.

Childhood Revisited explores the toys I had as a youth.

I am pleased to unveil seven new paintings to this ongoing series. Click HERE to explore the new works and reconnect with some old friends.

For those that are interested, Museum-quality archival prints are available for purchase at the Iron-Cow Prod. Etsy Store.

In addition, I am proud to announce I have partnered with PROJECT WISH UPON A STAR for their FANNIVERSARY! event, happening TODAY! I am premiering my Childhood Revisited paintings all throughout the West Coast. A portion of the proceeds of each sale go to PWUAS.org, a 501c3 Children’s Charity offering patient programs such as STEM, ART and other positive reinforcement projects they perform as part of their ongoing efforts to help child patients in need.

To learn more about the FANNIVERSARY! event, please visit Project Wish Upon a Star.

My heartfelt thanks to you all for your continued support. As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!

New Painting: The Dancer

Posted on December 22, 2016 in Misc Paintings | No Comments

Hello everyone –

As we close out the year 2016, I wanted to share one more painting.

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Charlotte on what was to become a new painting series. While that series is still being developed, I wanted to take a moment and create a painting based off one of the quieter moments from the session. There was something about the way Charlotte was posing, very poised and tranquil, and the way the backlighting illuminated her hair… I was such a striking visual, and I wanted to capture that on canvas as well.

Head on over to the Misc Paintings Gallery to see the finished painting.

This has been a phenomenal year for me, artistically. I can’t thank you all enough for all the words of support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Despite everything else that’s happened this year, I find so much comfort knowing I’ve got amazing friends out there.

Wishing you all the very best. Here’s to an amazing 2017!

Acrylic Artist: The Portrait Redefined

Posted on December 5, 2016 in Big Heads | No Comments

Hello everyone –

I am pleased to announce that my artwork is the Featured Story in the current issue of Acrylic Artist Magazine. The magazine is in art stores now, and hitting Barnes & Noble next week, I believe. However, if you would like to order a copy online, the publisher has it available both in print and digital download formats.

My painting of “Danielle” is on the cover, and there is a 12 page article written by Michael Gormley that covers my work, my process and includes critical analysis of about a dozen paintings of mine.

I am truly humbled by how much space they have devoted to my work. To order a copy for yourself, click on the HERE to be directed to Acrylic Artist Magazine.

This is a *huge* opportunity for me, and I would like to thank each of you for always being so supportive.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Break the Ice: How to Paint a Complete Stranger’s Portrait

Acrylic Artist Magazine also has an interview with me regarding how I approach some of my painting subjects, specifically random strangers on the street.

Click either HERE or the photo above to read the interview. And, keep in mind a stranger is just a friend you haven’t painted yet!

Grand Prize: New York Coffee Festival

Posted on September 19, 2016 in Events, Misc Paintings | No Comments

Hello everyone –

I am thrilled to announce that this past weekend my painting “Morning Sludge” took home the Grand Prize at the New York Coffee Festival.

Huge thanks to The New York Coffee Festival, The Coffee Art Project and Project Waterfall for making it all possible. In addition, I would like to congratulate all the artists who participated. There was some amazing artwork on display!

“Morning Sludge” will now travel to Europe and will be on display at “The Coffee Art Project: London” next spring!

The Coffee Art Project is a high profile art competition linked to the theme of Coffee. Following on from the success of The Coffee Art Project in London, Milan, Amsterdam and Paris, where more than 400 inspirational submissions have been received, the competition is entering it’s second year in NYC.

The Coffee Art Project supports Project Waterfall, which is committed to bringing clean water to communities which grow our coffee through the Allegra Foundation and other registered charities.

So far, Project Waterfall, has raised more than £520,000 and delivered clean water to over 20,000 people in Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Nicaragua in partnership with WaterAid, Charity: Water and Water for People.

The Coffee art Project is a non-profit initiative aimed at encouraging artists by providing them with an open platform to showcase their works.

They are funded by donations, sponsorship and art sales. All works must be for sale in the exhibition(s) and on the Coffee art Project on-line gallery. For each artwork sold, 25% is given to the artist, 25% is used to fund administration costs, 50% will be donated to Project Waterfall.

As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!

After a year, nearly 30 new paintings added!

Posted on September 9, 2016 in Big Heads, Childhood Revisited, Misc Paintings | No Comments

Hello everyone –

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since the last site update! A lot of things have happened during that time: I switched occupations, adjusted to living in a new city, and most importantly, got married! It’s been an amazing time, to say the least.

Even though things may have been quiet here on the site, that’s not to say I haven’t been hard at work behind the scenes. I am pleased to unveil close to 30 new paintings! Some are new portraits, some are works commissioned by the AARP, and there are some new figure paintings.

In addition, I am excited to unveil Childhood Revisited a new experimental painting series starring some old childhood friends. These are a joy to work on, and I hope you enjoy them as well.

Click HERE to check out the new traditional paintings, and HERE to check view Childhood Revisited.

As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!

One Man Show at the School of Visual Arts

Posted on November 12, 2015 in Events | No Comments

Hello everyone –

I am pleased to announce I have installed a One Man Show at SVA, The School of Visual Arts, in New York City.

I created the Raw Sienna series of paintings in conjunction with the courses, “Paint Your Own Vision” with Seth Michael Forman and “Portrait Painting” with John Parks. The work is on display in the SVA exhibition space at 209 East 23rd Street until November 30th.

The Raw Sienna series has no determined boundary. The story occurring outside the canvas is equally as important as what is depicted within.

Each viewer will supply their own narrative to the works, their own thoughts on the location and events, whether viewing an individual painting or the interaction that forms between collected works on display.

As each new showcase of work can vary in layout and orientation, every viewing will yield a new and unexpected narrative.

As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!
